Have an event on the horizon? Then it may be time to check out your catering and event planning options. Although I’ll periodically introduce you to caterers and event planners in other Texas regions, this particular post is focused on Austin.

Dagar’s Catering

Dagar’s Catering, the oldest catering company in Austin, opened in 1952 in a small café on Sixth Street, but has grown into a full-service catering company known throughout central Texas. The company can handle event catering of all sizes and has built a reputation on providing each occasion with a polished and delicious customized menu. That said, Dagar’s still offers some of the best Texas BBQ in town, alongside a variety of cuisines envisioned by Chef Sas Taber. Hint: Try the watermelon salad or salad in a martini glass.

DNA Events

DNA Events was founded by Kathryn and Frank Albarado in 2009 after many years in the catering and event industry. As the sister company of Dagar's Catering, DNA Events has become a full-service catering company, providing everything down to the plates and staff—just not the food. Instead, DNA Events partners with other notable restaurants and food providers throughout Texas to bring clients a seamless, full-service wedding or event.

The Peached Tortilla

The Peached Tortilla opened in Austin in 2010 as a single food truck serving Asian- and Southern-inspired tacos and sliders. It has since grown to include several food trucks and a permanent location at 5520 Burnet Rd., and now caters all types of events—with or without a food truck. If you’re looking for a catering menu that features The Peached Tortilla’s well known street food items, then you’ve hit the jackpot. Of course, you could also request more traditional entree options like roasted salmon with tomato jam or a Kalua pork shoulder, served family style with bibb lettuce, sweet Hawaiian rolls and pickled vegetables. The Peached Tortilla clients have included H&M, Cricket Wireless, Nike, Google and Whole Foods.

With the opening of Spa Adolphus in fall 2016, The Adolphus Hotel now offers add-on packages to incorporate wellness into meetings and events. The Spa Adolphus Revive & Refresh breakout sessions, for example, provide short relaxation breaks—including on-site mini spa services, seated massage, or hydrating aromatherapy hand treatments—to ensure attendees can renew their focus for the duration of a meeting.

Brewing together for pure pleasure since 2006, four guys (Tim Hanna, Matt McDevitt, Chris Konicki and Jim McAfee) finally made their dream a reality in 2011 by opening Tuckahoe Brewing Company. Located in Egg Harbor, Tuckahoe offers tours, private parties and sample tastings of their flavorful on-tap beers. Currently, Tuckahoe has 16 different beers in their tasting room that come in various sizes: 4-ounce pours, 10-ounce goblets and 16-ounce pints.
